Huge tailbacks are reportedly forming on the major motorway in Glasgow as a result of the accident.

The essential resurfacing works, initially delayed due to adverse weather, will take place on the M8 westbound main carriageway between Hermiston Gait and Claylands from January 16, for five nights

The incident happened at around 7.50am this morning and has resulted in one eastbound lane being closed, with police confirming that recovery of the vehicles is under way

Drivers are facing delays of around one hour and 16 minutes following the major crash earlier today. Police Scotland are currently in attendance at the scene on the M8.

Police and recovery services had raced to the scene shortly after 8.50am on Monday morning (December 12) due to the collision at the Hermiston Gait Junction.

A collision on the A1 has led to a road being blocked between between Oaktree and Haddington in East Lothian. This comes after drivers were warned to expect delays following another collision on the M8.

As rush hour comes to a peak, Edinburgh drivers have been issued a warning to expect delays on the M8 following a collision as many make their way back home from work.

BEAR Scotland issued a notice this week that work will begin on the bridge in February, 2023, that carries the eastbound slip off the motorway at Junction 3 near Livingston.
