Emergency services raced to a busy Scots motorway after a car burst into flames this afternoon.
Police and fire crews attended the incident on the M8 between J2 and J3 at roughly 1pm today.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
No injuries having been reported in connection with the incident.
A video clip has shown the grey Audi completely engulfed in flames, sending large plumes of black smoke into the air.
The car is parked on the hard shoulder with traffic at a standstill behind.
A man can also be seen standing a few feet away from the car on the side of the road.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Monday, 20 February, 2023, police were called to the M8 between J2 and J3, following a report of a car on fire.
"There are no reported injuries.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.56pm on Monday, 20 February to reports of a vehicle fire on the M8 Eastbound between junctions two and three.
"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a fire which had taken hold of a car.
"Crews extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
"There were no casualties."
