A multi-vehicle crash is causing traffic chaos on the M8 this morning.
Police raced to the smash after being alerted to the incident at Junction 6 at Newhouse at around 7.55am on Tuesday, March 7. Officers confirmed a 50-year-old man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie.
A 26-year-old man will be reported in connection with a road traffic offence
Cops were forced to close down the road but it had now reopened, and traffic is tailing back to Junction 8..
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.45am on Tuesday, 7 March, 2023 police were called to a report of a crash involving four vehicles on the M8 eastbound near Chapelhall.
"A 50-year-old man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie.
“A 26-year-old man will be reported in connection with a road traffic offence.
"The road fully re-opened around 10.20am."
Traffic Scotland warned motorists to expect delays of up to half an hour
A spokesperson said: "The M8 eastbound is blocked due to a multi-vehicle collision.
"Police are in attendance and traffic is stationary on approach."
