Hendrick Motorsports celebrated its 40th anniversary in style at Martinsville Speedway, becoming the first team in history to score a 1-2-3 finish at the iconic short track. William Byron collected his series-leading third win of the year, beating Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott to the checkered flag.

Byron was the first lead-lap car to make a green flag pitstop – uncharacteristic on the short track – in the middle of the final stage and when the cycle of stops was completed, he emerged as the leader for the first time in the race.

William Byron earned pole position, led the most laps, and became the first repeat winner of the 2024 season with his victory last weekend at COTA. 

While Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron (two) and Kyle Larson have together won three of the series’ first six races, Bowman struggled with a three-race stretch of no finish better than 18th.

Blaney, who was fastest in practice and in the first round of qualifying, backed it up with an average lap speed of 124.954 mph in the final round to earn his first pole since the 2022 season.

Again this season, the iconic 0.625-mile track will host two days of racing, a Truck Series race on May 18 followed by the Cup Series’ all-star race on May 19.
