New York (AFP) - American car manufacturer Ford will return to Formula One in 2026 after more than two decades away with a link-up with world champions Red Bull, the company said on Friday.

Red Bull made the announcement at an event in New York City on Friday.

The storied American manufacturer is re-entering Formula One through a partnership with Red Bull Powertrains, where it’ll share its expertise.

Red Bull will race with fan-designed liveries for the three Formula 1 races in the United States this year.

The two will begin developing the next-gen power unit this year.
