Ahead of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry departure from their royal titles, the Queen was completely aware about the upcoming decision to step down from their roles.
Her Majesty revealed there was a subtle sign from the pair before they made the official announcement.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the jaw-dropping announcement that they were quitting their royal duties and starting their new life overseas in 2020.
Ahead of the announcement, the monarch knew the infamous moment was coming as the pair had left with their dogs in tow.
Whilst members of Buckingham Palace expected them to one day return to the fold, the Queen, now 96, knew differently.

According to Robert Hardman's new biography of the monarch, serialised on MailOnline, she explained that she didn't expect her son and daughter-in-law to resume royal life - despite the odds.
Her Majesty was questioned about the couple's future and upcoming return.
However, she set the record straight and replied: “Of course not. They took the dogs.”
Meghan, 40, has an undeniable love for animals and was allegedly heartbroken when she had to leaver her Labrador-Shepherd mix dog Bogart behind when she moved to the UK.
She had to part ways with the dog due to his age - recent sources suggested that he does not reside in their Los Angeles home as he “ did not get on with Harry ”.
The Sussexes currently own two dogs - a beagle named Guy and a black Labrador called Pula.
Pula is the currency of Botswana, the African country which became a “refuge” for the prince following the death of Princess Diana.
Botswana is also where the couple spent five nights camping together when they were first dating.
Meghan, who is a promoter of adopting rescue dogs, previously said the pair of rescue dogs "mean the absolute world" to her and regularly refers to them as "my loves" and "my boys".
Harry has also emphasised his love of dogs that runs in the family - with his grandmother best known for her love of corgis.
In 2017, he revealed that the corgis took to his then new partner “straight away”.
He said: “I've spent the last 33 years being barked at; this one walks in, absolutely nothing.”
The Duke of Sussex will allegedly be reuniting with the Queen's beloved pets in a few days as his attendance has been confirmed for next month's celebratory Platinum Jubilee.
The historic event starts on Thursday, 2 June and commences four days of exciting celebrations.
The duo confirmed they will be coming to the UK with their children to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
However, they will not be making the traditional appearance alongside other roles on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
A spokesperson for the couple said the couple are "excited" and "honoured" to attend the celebrations alongside children Archie and Lilibet.
Their excitement comes despite announcement that there would be no place for them on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the Trooping the Colour event.
