Delhi was a crucial election for the Aam Aadmi Party, which hoped to return for a third term. But the party suffered a debilitating loss on Saturday, earning only 22 seats in the 70-seat Delhi assembly while the BJP got 48. The Congress and other parties got none at all.

Be it 2013, 2015 or 2020. Autorickshaw drivers in Delhi have openly thrown their weight behind the Aam Aadmi Party in three consecutive elections, and the Arvind Kejriwal government has also been seen taking decisions favouring the group.

In December, the Aam Aadmi Party announced the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana. Under the scheme, the party promised to give Rs 18,000 to temple priests and granthis from gurdwaras if it was voted to power for a fourth time. This is a first-of-its-kind scheme in the country.
