Delhi Polls: Voting for all 70 Assembly seats underway; Vote count on 8 Feb

New Delhi: One phase voting for all the 70 Assembly seats began this morning at 7 at a rather slow pace, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

As the day is picking up, more and more voters are coming out and queues can be seen at some polling booths. 

Total Voters
According to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), 1.56 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots at 13,766 polling stations. This includes 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women, and 1,267 third-gender voters.

Special Booths for disabled
A total of 733 polling stations have been designated for persons with disabilities. 

Ballot Units
To ensure a smooth voting process, over 21,500 ballot units and VVPATs have been prepared, with provisions for dummy and Braille ballot papers to enhance accessibility.

Three-way contest  
The Delhi election is a three-way contest with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress in the fray.

The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won the last two Delhi Election in 2015 and 2020. Before AAP, the Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years. The BJP has not been in power in Delhi for 27 years. 

The counting of votes will take place on 8 february.
