The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed YouTube to take down three channels for allegedly making fake claims. 

The ministry of information and broadcasting has blocked 22 YouTube channels for “spreading disinformation related to India’s national security, foreign relations and public order”, according to a press release. According to the ministry, the combined viewership of these channels was over 260 crore.

The Kerala High Court has dismissed MediaOne's appeal against a single judge order that had upheld the channel's ban, LiveLaw reported today. The ban had been imposed after the ministry of information and broadcasting refused to renew the channel's broadcast licence on grounds of security.

Hours after Malayalam news channel MediaOne announced that its transmission had been barred by the ministry of information and broadcasting, the Kerala High Court temporarily deferred the ministry's order until the next date of hearing.

The currency of India’s boisterous news channels will soon be back in circulation. The Broadcast Audience Research Council’s TRP ratings for the news genre, suspended since October 2020, are expected to resume after an order last week by the ministry of information and broadcasting.

The ministry of information and broadcasting said on Friday that it had blocked 35 YouTube channels, two Twitter accounts, two Instagram accounts, a Facebook account, and two websites, Scroll reported. According to the ministry, the accounts were being operated from Pakistan and spreading “anti-India disinformation”.
