Washington (AFP) - The dominant US services sector contracted for the first time in more than two years in December, survey data showed on Friday, as business activity slumped.

The stock market hit resistance for much of the week, but rallied Friday on the jobs report and services data. Tesla and GE were big movers.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose Wednesday ahead of economic data and Fed minutes. Microsoft slid on an analyst downgrade, while Tesla stock bounced.
