Pablo Di Si, CEO of Volkswagen Group and Volkswagen Brand for North America, has resigned. The German automaker announced the news on Tuesday, though it's not clear exactly when he stepped down. In a press release, VW states Di Si "stepped down from his position on his own request." 

The German automaker has been attempting cost-cutting measures in its home country.

While it seems many automakers are moving away from PHEVs and toward BEVs, that could stand to change with the way the new US federal tax credit works.

CEO Pablo Di Si said the EV incentives put in place by the Inflation Reduction Act will help the automaker more than double its US market share by 2030.

Volkswagen brand boss Thomas Schäfer says the rugged EV platform developed for the Scout brand is not in the company's future, at least not in this decade.

Effective September 1, Scott Keogh will become president and CEO of Scout, with Pablo Di Si to replace him at the helm of Volkswagen Group of America.
