Shoppers say 'the world's gone mad' as Morrisons replaces gingerbread 'man' with 'person'

Morrisons has come under fire for replacing its gingerbread man with a 'gingerbread person'.

The label was spotted on the shelf in store and shared on a Facebook group, where hundreds of people have reacted, many of them slating the retailer.

"Oh for crying out loud, they have always been gingerbread men no matter how we decorate them. What is this country coming too," said one.

"Rename it what you like it doesn't change the fact it is still a gingerbread MAN!" said another.

And a third added: "Why do people have to follow this stupid trend, have they not got a back bone, get real people, it's always been a gingerbread MAN."

"It's getting absolutely ridiculous now," said one shopper, with another adding: "Will not to be buying one of these, the world's gone mad."

The packaging will also soon be updated to say 'gingerbread person' (Manchester Family / MEN)

The biscuit is from Morrisons' 'free from' range as it's free from gluten, milk and egg.

While the wrapper itself still says 'gingerbread man', that's soon to be updated, but if the anger around the shelf label is anything to go by, customers won't be best pleased.

Not everyone is offended though, and others said it's the price that should be highlighted.

"The real disgrace is that a single biscuit is £1.39 wtf," said one, with another adding: "The price should be what's pi**ing you off £1.39 just because it's free from."

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: "To match our shelf edge label, Morrisons Free From Gingerbread person packaging will be updated early next year."

Does it bother you whether it's gingerbread man or person? Would it stop you buying one? Let us know in the comments here.
