Concerns over salmonella have seen dozens of products withdrawn from major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsburys and Aldi. Cranswick Country Foods has recalled more than one hundred items which it supplies to retailer, including chicken sandwiches and wraps among other things.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an official alert yesterday (May 12) which says: "Cranswick Country Foods are recalling several products containing chicken because salmonella has been found in some of the chicken used to manufacture these products. As a precaution additional products are also being recalled whilst investigations continue."
The recall covers 111 products and lines, including items such as sandwiches and wraps sold by Aldi, Tesco, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's, Amazon, Co-op, Shell petrol stations, One Stop, Caffé Nero and Starbucks. Customers are being warned not to eat the products, but to return them to the store they bought them from for a full refund instead.

The FSA said: "Symptoms of salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the above products."
