A missing nine-year-old girl has been found "safe and well", police have confirmed.
Officers launched a massive search after the schoolgirl, named Leila vanished at around 11am in York.
But in a welcome update North Yorkshire Police said she had been located - and thanked the public for making a 'difference'.
The force wrote on Twitter : "Missing York girl found.
"We're pleased and relieved to report that we've just located the missing 9-year-old girl from York. She's safe and well.
" Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal to find her, and contact us with information.
"Your support makes all the difference!"
Officers earlier said they were searching the area appealed to anyone who may have seen her to get in touch.
