It's that time of year where many shoppers are piling tubs of chocolates into their trolleys to stock up ahead of Christmas - but have you ever wondered which one has the edge when it comes to value?
Whichever selection tub is your family favourite, each one will set you back more or less the same price. Asda, for example, offers all four tubs for £4 each, while they similarly come in at £3.99 apiece from Aldi, and are all listed at a dearer £4.99 from Morrisons and £5 from Sainsbury's according to the supermarket websites.
A reporter from Leicestershire Live undertook a very important investigation to determine once and for all which tub is the best value for money. They may look nearly identical in size and have the same price tag - but of Celebrations, Roses, Quality Street and Heroes, there was one clear champion when it came to both the weight and number of sweets.

After buying the four tubs from various supermarkets, the reporter weighed the contents of each one and found that the contents of Roses tubs were the lightest overall at 616g, closely followed by Quality Street at 619g, and then Heroes narrowly took the second-place spot at 620g. But Celebrations tubs were the clear winner when it comes to value for money by weight alone, coming in at 701g including sweet wrappers.
This wasn't the only aspect that gave Celebrations an edge over its competitors - the Mars chocolate tub contained the most individual sweets, with 73 in total. For those interested, the most common chocolate in the tub that was put to the test was the Malteser Teaser (11), followed by Mars and Snickers (both 10), Bounty, Twix and Milky Way (all nine), Galaxy Caramel (eight) and the rarest was Galaxy (seven).
Meanwhile, Quality Street came in second place when it came to the number of sweets inside the tub with 65, ranging from eight Fudge chocolates to four Green Triangles. And Heroes came in third with 61 mini treats - even though two full-size Twirl bars were stashed inside rather than mini ones, due to supply chain issues according to Cadbury.
Roses once again finished in last place, with just 56 sweets inside the tub - although the individual sweets were the heaviest out of the four at 11g. Golden Barrels were the most common with eight of the chocolates, followed by Strawberry Cream and Dairy Milk with seven each, while there were just four Signature Truffles.
The prices of each selection tub can vary depending on which supermarket you shop at, with many retailers running special offers on the festive favourite in the run-up to Christmas, so which one is the best value for money depends on how much you spend on your tub in the first place. But operating on the assumption that all the tubs cost the same, it seems you'll get the most chocolate for your money with Celebrations and be worst off buying a tub of Roses.
