We compared tubs of Celebrations from several different supermarkets

It's not Christmas without chocolate, and a big red tub of Celebrations is a practically a necessity.

The iconic festive treat is a tradition in many households, and everyone has their favourite. Many are convinced there's less of the coveted Maltesers Teasers inside, so we decided to put it to the test and find a definitive answer.

No matter whether you're a Galaxy fanatic, a lover of a classic Twix, or secretly devastated the Bounty is being phased out, there's something for everyone when it comes to Celebrations.

Christmas is just 16 days away, with many supermarkets pulling out all the stops with vast ranges of sweet treats and savoury snacks to indulge in during the run up to the big day.

We visited our local supermarkets on the quest for a tub of Celebrations (though one of us really struggled) and decided to tally up the exact number of chocolates in each one. Here's what we discovered:

Asda

I am completely obsessed with Celebrations, and love any excuse to snap up a tub so this week's experiment was right up my street. I went to my local Asda store and managed to purchase just one tub (instead of the six I really wanted to buy).

I'm not a fan of the new packaging design. I feel the plainer, stripped back wrappers and abundance of white looks a little cheap but it's the amount of chocolate inside that's most important.

Unsurprisingly, my favourite Celebrations are Maltesers Teaser and both Galaxy options. I don't mind Bountys either, and think they're undeserving of all the hate and hostility they get. I certainly don't think they should be removed from the roster!

Inside the tub of Celebrations I bought from Asda (Jess Flaherty/Liverpool ECHO)

Despite that, I've firmly believed the beloved tubs include less of my favourites and more Milky Ways, Snickers, Mars and Bountys. My least favourite is a Twix, so I was pleased to discover there were eight of them compared to a pleasantly surprising 10 Maltesers.

I feel like this tub was a complete win - I can't remember the last time I picked up a tub of Celebrations and got more than seven Maltesers.

Here's what I found in my Celebrations tub:

Galaxy - 7

Mars - 10

Galaxy Caramel - 8

Maltesers - 10

Milky Way - 9

Snickers - 10

Twix - 8

Bounty - 9

Where to buy: Asda

Price: £4

Morrisons

The contents of my Celebrations tub from Morrisons (Liverpool Echo)

Celebrations are my favourite Christmas chocolates, so I was very excited to head to my local Morrisons store and pick up a tub. Unsurprisingly, my favourite one is the Maltesers Teaser - I firmly believe you can't have enough of them. I also love the Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel and Snickers.

My least favourites are Bounty and Milky Way, but other than that I'm happy to eat any of the options. I was really impressed with this tub of Celebrations. Upon opening the tub, I found 10 Maltesers - way more than I've had in the past. Although there's still a lot of Bounty and Milky Way in there, I feel like it's pleasantly balanced out by plenty of my favourite chocolates.

Here's what I found in my Celebrations tub:

Galaxy - 7

Mars - 10

Galaxy Caramel - 8

Maltesers - 10

Milky Way - 9

Snickers - 10

Twix - 9

Bounty - 9

Where to buy: Morrisons

Price: £4 in store, £4.99 online

Aldi

I'm a big fan of Aldi, and often pop there for a few bits when I'm in need throughout the week. I absolutely love their selection of Christmas choccies, and think they offer great value for festive treats that often might be more expensive elsewhere.

I took a trip to Aldi to grab some Celebrations, because let's be honest, it's not Christmas until you've got a tub of Celebrations. Sadly, my local Aldi didn't have any tubs left, but they were offering smaller Celebrations pouches for £2.99.

Considering a larger tub for 650g of chocolate costs £4, a pouch of 370g for £2.99 wasn't the best value, but I wasn't complaining, because I needed my chocolate fix urgently. In terms of my favourite Celebrations, I controversially enjoy a Bounty, but the best ones for me are Galaxy and Malteaser and my least favourites are Snickers and Mars.

I was rather disappointed that there was only 3 of my favourite chocolates available for me to scoff, but was chuffed at the amount of Bounty chocolates considering not many people like them. Overall, it was a mixed result!

Here's what I found in my Celebrations pouch:

Galaxy - 3

Mars - 7

Galaxy Caramel - 3

Maltesers - 3

Milky Way - 7

Snickers - 6

Twix - 6

Bounty - 5

Where to buy: Aldi

Price: £2.99 for a pouch or £3.99 for a tub.
