Add the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes to the list of NFL stars who would like to represent the United States in the 2028 Olympics.
While answering questions at a news conference in Frankfurt on Friday, the two-time Super Bowl MVP expressed a desire to quarterback the U.S. squad in flag football at the upcoming Olympic games in Los Angeles.
“I definitely want to. But I’ve seen some of those guys play the flag football. They’re a little faster than I am,” Mahomes said, via the Associated Press. “I know there’s not like linemen blocking for you. I’ll be 31, 32 years old. So if I can still move around then, I’m going to try to get out there and throw the football around maybe in L.A.”
Since the International Olympic Committee announced that flag football will be added to the 2028 Olympic Games a few weeks ago, several NFL stars such as Tyreek Hill and Micah Parsons have expressed interest in representing Team USA.
The International Olympic Committee approved flag football along with cricket, baseball, softball, lacrosse and squash for the 2028 Summer Games.
The NFL’s best signal-caller, who would like the chance to confirm he’s the best quarterback in the world in several years, will take on the Dolphins on Sunday at Deutsche Bank Stadium in Frankfurt, Germany.
