Morocco's Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi held talks with American intelligence officials in Washington security challenges and threats from terrorist groups and organized crime.

Hammouchi paid a working visit to the United States on June 13-14, at the head of a security delegation made up of directors and executives of the central services of the General Directorate of National Security and General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

This visit reflects the strong cooperation ties between Morocco and the US in the various security areas, particularly in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, a statement by the DGST read.

The visit reflects the strengthening and development of the security partnership between the Moroccan security services and American federal agencies in charge of intelligence and law enforcement, the statement added.

During his visit, Hammouchi held working sessions with Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence, William Burns, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Christopher Wray, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Talks focused on the various security threats and new dangers at the regional and international levels, as well as on the mechanisms and means to face these risks according to a common and collective vision capable of ensuring international security and peace.

"Virtual operations" linked to the fight against the terrorist threat and organized crime, particularly in their cybernetic form and their transnational links, were also discussed.
