A man has died after being hit by a "hammer" at a Highland Games in the Netherlands.
Local police say a 65-year-old man from Geldrop died "after being hit by a metal ball in use at a sporting event".
It's understood the man was walking behind a hedge when he was hit on Sunday at the open Dutch Highland Games championships, shortly before noon.
Dutch media have said he was "not a spectator" and walked in gardens next to the event at Geldrop Castle when the hammer throw went wrong.
A helicopter and other emergency services sent to the scene and the public tried to reinstate but they were unable to save him.
Police have now said they are investigating.
Highland Games celebrate Scottish culture and take place all over the world. They predominately take place in Canada and the US, countries in Europe take part in the tradition too.
