MYSURU: Students of various colleges under the banner of the All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) stage a protest near the deputy commissioner’s office here on Friday, demanding that the state government extend the validity of school students' bus passes till the end of their semester exams.
They said KSRTC has adopted an unscientific policy by ending the validity of bus facility on June 30, when their semester exams are still pending. They said KSRTC had issued the bus passes in September.
As their classes started last November, their semester exams of this year are still pending. Hence, they wanted KSRTC to extend the validity of their bus passes for another two months.
As the validity of bus passes has ended now, bus conductors demanded students to pay buy tickets from Friday. As the government is dilly dallying to extend the validity of bus passes, students were in a fix as they could not afford to pay the bus ticket price. The students wanted the KSRTC to immediately look into their demands. They threatened to intensify their stir across the state if their demands are not met.
