West Lothian Council is asking if people are prepared to pay more council tax to protect vital services as they face £47.1m budget gap between 2023 and 2028.

Only council tax rises above 3.5% will be able to stave off budget savings needed to maintain services as council has to make inroads into the £47m funding gap it faces.

A public consultation has been launched to determine what the council's priorities should be

The public in Deans and Carmondean will be asked for their views on whether the partnered community council should split after being formed in October last year. The decision will be taken in January.

Shared spaces accommodation will provide temporary homes for 60 and save the council almost £900,000 it currently shells out for emergency B&B spaces

It is hoped the site will be up and running by early next year.
