The Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission (WERC) ruled on Nov. 25 that the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority (UW Health) is not legally required to collectively bargain with UW Nurses United, a chapter of SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) recently signed three bills related to public-sector union policy and vetoed another three. 

A three-judge panel of the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court affirmed Circuit Judge Raylene Grischow’s May 2022 denial of a petition to remove Amendment 1, the Right to Collective Bargaining Measure, from the ballot. 

On Aug. 19, Judge Joseph F. Leeson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed a Janus-based lawsuit a member of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra brought against the American Federation of Musicians, Local 45, and the Allentown Symphony Association. 

On Aug. 11, Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) Regional Director Jessica S. Bartlett granted the American Federation of Government Employees’ (AFGE) petition to disclaim representational interest in AFGE Council 118—the National ICE Council—and decertified the union.
