Unesco report argues that ‘only technology that supports learning’ should be allowed

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released a report highlighting the many challenges of the growing presence of technology in education.

Unesco’s Global Education Monitoring Report 2023, ‘Technology in Education: A Tool on Whose Terms’ has endorsed banning smartphones in schools in situations where “technology integration does not improve learning or if it worsens student well-being”.

Children need to be aware of the dangers of spending too many hours on a screen, especially late into the night, Nick Gibb warned.
