UAP leader defends the travel expenses, saying his activities at the protests were parliamentary business

Clive Palmer says he plans to spend about $70 million on the coming federal election campaign. And unlike the last election, he says he is undecided on which major party the UAP will preference.

Clive Palmer says the United Australia Party will preference the Liberal Party, Labor and the Greens last on all its how-to-vote cards at the upcoming federal election.

The polls presented here are in addition to Monday’s Newspoll (54-46 to Labor) and Ipsos (55-45 to Labor), which I covered here.

This week’s Newspoll, conducted March 31 to April 3 – the days following the March 29 budget –from a sample of 1,531, gave Labor a 54-46 lead, a one-point gain for the Coalition since the last Newspoll, three weeks ago.

This week’s Newspoll, conducted March 9-12 from a sample of 1,520, gave Labor a 55-45 lead, unchanged since last fortnight. Primary votes were 41% Labor (steady), 35% Coalition (steady), 8% Greens (down one), 3% One Nation (steady), 3% Clive Palmer’s UAP (down one) and 10% for all Others (up two).
