A 55-year-old home guard has died by hanging himself following torture by his brothers in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district and he also wrote the names of his brother and his sister-in-law on his body before ending his life, a police official said on Friday. Read further on Dynamite News:

Amnesty International Thailand, a group of activists and families of victims have urged the Justice Ministry to enforce every regulation of the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act, which takes effect today after the cabinet recently announced it would postpone enforcing some key provisions till Oct 1.

A UN committee for the prevention of torture has cancelled previously delayed plans to visit Australia over concerns about restricted access to facilities.

A U.N. torture prevention panel terminated its suspended visit to Australia, saying it continued to face obstacles in getting access to some detention centres in the country.

Australia has now joined Rwanda as the only other country to have inspections terminated by the United Nations, after the international body was denied full access to detention and mental health in-patient wards in New South Wales and Queensland.
