The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said that they have submitted a disqualification petition to Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar against the nine MLAs who were sworn in as ministers in the Shinde-Fadnavis government on July 2.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working president Supriya Sule on June 30 criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP’s) fixation on her father and party supremo Sharad Pawar and cousin Ajit Pawar, amid ongoing verbal sparring between the two parties regarding the formation of a short-lived government in Maharashtra in 2019.

Remarking that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “uneasiness” had increased following the June 23 meeting of Opposition parties in Patna, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on June 29 said that the next meeting of Opposition parties would be held in Bengaluru on July 13 and 14.

“I will appeal to the Centre to expedite justice in the case,” she said.

Mr. Pawar, in a veiled jibe at the Shinde-BJP government, had questioned why incidents of communal nature were repeatedly occurring in Maharashtra.
