More evacuees from Sudan are expected to arrive in Jeddah today (29 April), after fleeing the conflict before the country’s ceasefire ends.

Air strikes, anti-aircraft weaponry and artillery could be heard in Khartoum as fighting in Sudan enters a third week.

Another flight carrying 231 Indian passengers evacuated from conflict-torn Sudan reached New Delhi on April 29. 

Air strikes and artillery rocked Khartoum on Saturday as Sudan entered a third week of fighting between rival military forces despite a ceasefire, prompting more civilians to flee and renewed warnings of wider instability if the war is not stopped.

Syrians fled to Sudan to avoid the war in their country. The prospect of going back is not one they want to consider.
