Sub-zero temperatures were recorded in Aberdeenshire today but 3,800 homes are still without supply in the north of the country - possibly until the end of the week.

THOUSANDS of homes have been left without power as many parts of the country were hit by snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Evidence of Storm Arwen is still visible around Perthshire but in the past year millions of pounds have been invested to ensure when the next lashing inevitably comes, everyone will be better prepared and protected.

Storm Malik left thousands in Tayside without power on Saturday, January 29 before the even stronger Storm Corrie struck eastern Scotland with gusts of 92mph the following day

Engineers are still working to restore power to about 50 homes in Aberdeenshire.
