Part of Violet Hill in Mansfield has been closed after a drain reportedly collapsed, causing a sizeable sinkhole to form in the road which was spotted on Sunday, March 19.

The company is continuing to work on a permanent repair for the water main which was damaged by third party contractors building student accommodation

Many were seen cleaning their homes after the ordeal which was said to be caused by pipes 'damaged by a third party'

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed ten properties had been flooded and the majority of these had also been evacuated

The upgrades to the pipe system will reduce the risk of customer supply issues, such as through incidents like burst pipes, and ensure that the network can meet future demands of the village as it continues to grow.

Severn Trent has shared the horrendous images with a reminder to customers that they are responsible for the waste pipe running away from their home up until it either crosses the property boundary or meets another waste pipe or sewer
