Silence is set to spread across Highland Park at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday to mark the moment one year ago when a gunman opened fire at the city’s Fourth of July parade.

“There’s a lot of people here, and you’re just standing here thinking it could happen again. That will always stay in your head. But here we are.”

The event was one of a series of vigils held across the country for the 10th annual National Vigil for All Victims and Survivors of Gun Violence.
