Bitcoin and other major coins traded sharply lower over 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening as the global cryptocurrency market cap shrank 5.6% to $1.8 trillion.

Cryptocurrency analyst Michaël van de Poppe says Ethereum looks set to retest the $3,400 level. If the level is breached, it is "party time," the Eight founder told his 580,000 Twitter followers.

Bitcoin and Ethereum were little changed over 24 hours leading up to Thursday night as the global cryptocurrency market cap rose 1.05% to $2 trillion.

Bitcoin traded below the psychologically important $45,000 mark on Wednesday evening as the global cryptocurrency market cap declined 3.5% to $2 trillion.

Bitcoin and Ethereum declined Tuesday evening, while Dogecoin emerged as the top intraday gainer, as the global cryptocurrency market cap fell 3% to $2.1 trillion.

Bitcoin and other major coins were firmer on Monday night, as the global cryptocurrency market cap inched up 0.1% to $2.2 trillion at press time.

The two largest digital coins, Bitcoin and Ethereum, traded lower Thursday night as the global cryptocurrency market dropped 2.5% to $2.1 trillion. 

Bitcoin traded flat, Dogecoin slipped, while Ethereum edged higher on Tuesday evening, as the global cryptocurrency market cap rose 1.8% to $2.15 trillion.

Bitcoin and Ethereum traded firmly in the green on Monday evening as the global cryptocurrency market cap increased 1.2% to $2.1 trillion at press time.
