AMD CEO Lisa Su sees something much bigger than an opportunity to mop up Nvidia’s scraps in the booming AI GPU market.

Chips are vital to the AI boom, and while Nvidia has dominated the market with its GPUs, competition is coming from AMD.

"We made strong progress meeting key hardware and software milestones to address the growing customer pull for our data center AI solutions," said CEO Lisa Su.

The head of AMD would like to keep working with TSMC, but considers all options.

Chief executive of AMD expects AI to dominate design of chips in the future.

Jensen Huang and Lisa Su are quite closely related, but it may not have felt close due to the sheer number of relatives and their geographic dispersal.

AMD stock rose Wednesday after Advanced Micro Devices unveiled its latest semiconductor and data center products optimized for artificial intelligence.

"We have a chip that is incredibly powerful and we believe will be a significant winner in the AI market," said AMD CEO Lisa Su.
