WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice is moving to unseal the search warrant and the itemized receipt of what was taken from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this week, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday, his first public comments since the FBI search took place.

The Justice Department has asked a court to unseal the search warrant the FBI received before searching the Florida estate of former President Donald Trump, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday

Federal investigators attempted to retrieve highly classified documents that Donald Trump improperly removed from the White House by presenting him with a grand jury subpoena this past spring, months before FBI agents would execute a search warrant at his Palm Beach, Florida home.

It has been easy to find the threats and a call to arms in those corners of the internet favored by right-wing extremists since Donald Trump himself announced the search of his Florida home Monday night.

"I'm always concerned about threats to law enforcement," FBI Director Christopher Wray said. "Violence against law enforcement is not the answer, no matter who you're upset with."

The attorney general announced the DOJ was seeking to unseal several documents surrounding the search of Trump's Florida residence.
