The ships of the now defunct Crystal Cruises have sailed away. And the cash that would-be cruisers paid for future trips is in parts unknown.

Crystal Cruises, the luxury cruise operator whose ships were pursued through Bahamian waters by federal agents over unpaid bills, has laid off all 238 of its Miami-based employees and intends to wind down its operations.

The ships are operated by Crystal Cruises, a Miami-based company that is owned by Genting Hong Kong.
