Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt) (AFP) - A fraught UN summit wrapped up Sunday with a landmark deal on funding to help vulnerable countries cope with devastating climate impacts -- but also anger over a failure to be more ambitious on cutting emissions.

Countries adopted a hard-fought final agreement at the Cop27 climate summit early on Sunday that will set up a fund to help poor countries battered by climate disasters, but does not boost efforts to tackle the emissions causing them. France said it regretted the agreement's "lack of ambition".

The COP27 climate talks in Egypt, which had appeared close to collapse on Saturday morning, were poised for a last-minute deal after progress on a landmark agreement to pay poorer countries for harm caused by global warming.
