SNP members at Holyrood and Westminster have sent a letter to Edinburgh Council's Labour group leader urging him to "respect the election result" and reject any form of deal with Tory councillors to secure power.

No party tabled plans for a new council administration as negotiations continue - with the appointment of councillors to committees and the election of a new Lord Provost pushed back to next week.

After more than a week of talks between the various parties it now looks likely that Edinburgh Council will be run by the SNP and the Greens, although Labour still hope to see a 'rainbow' coalition.

One week on from the election, parties have called on Labour to clarify if they're ruling out a new deal with the SNP so talks can progress - whilst one Labour insider accused the SNP and Greens of "holding stuff up" by not making their intentions clear.
