The National Weather Service has extended a flood watch for areas of eastern Kentucky ravaged by high water more than a week ago and said there’s a threat of thunderstorms in the region for much of the coming week

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, has approved individual assistance for people in more counties hit by recent flooding in Eastern Kentucky, Gov. Andy Beshear’s office announced Saturday.

"It's going to take years to rebuild. People left with absolutely nothing," said Gov. Andy Beshear, as recovery begins. "And we continue to find bodies of our brothers and sisters that we have lost."
