Met Office says heavy rain and sudden flooding could occur in affected areas and cause transport disruption

Flash flooding has killed at least 50 people in western Afghanistan, provincial police said Saturday, with some reaching safety on higher ground mere minutes before the water hit.

Officials in the central region expect the number of casualties to increase as rising waters destroy thousands of homes.

Recent floods in Kenya have left at least 270 people dead, displaced more than 200,000 and destroyed property, infrastructure and livelihoods across the country.
