Woman filmed attacking airport check-in staff after arriving late for flight

A woman wrecked an airport desk after reportedly arriving to check-in late with an invalid passport.

Shocking footage from Mexico City International Airport shows a woman behind the desk among startled airport workers.

She can be seen grabbing objects from the desk and launching them onto the floor, and becoming physically aggressive with members of staff.

Staff shout for help in the clip before security come and remove the unruly passenger.

Emirates said that the woman had arrived at its check-in desk late and with an out-of-date passport, leading her to be refused access to a flight.

It is unclear where she was flying to or what nationality she is.

A spokesperson for Emirates said: “Emirates can confirm that on 1 November an incident occurred at the check-in counter at Mexico City International Airport, whereby a passenger reported late to the check-in counter was also found to be travelling with an expired passport.

“The customer was refused travel and became unruly and physically abusive to the ground staff, making it necessary for airport security and the police to intervene.

"The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and will not be compromised.”

Airports can be stressful at the best of times, with the potential of missing a flight and losing hundreds of pounds hanging over terminal like a dark cloud, ready to burst if the system falls apart.

At Bristol Airport last month travellers described scenes of "absolute chaos", with reports of fights breaking out and some people suffering panic attacks.

Bristol Live reports that some people were seen crying in the queues as they missed their flights.

A passenger wrote on Twitter that six security lanes were closed and there was "no coordination or communication" - and described the queues as "unacceptable".

Passenger Simon Sucksmith said: "These are the scenes from Bristol airport this morning, Friday October 21.

"Utter security chaos, thousands of people all crammed in, loads outside, my children were totally scared. There were hardly any staff, and those that were there had no idea what was going on.

"Swissport, Jet2 and Tui all saying it's the airport security is the issue, I blame them all."

At the time Bristol Airport said in a statement: "The security queues in the early morning [21/10/22] were unacceptable and we apologise to all customers who were impacted. Far fewer security staff were working than planned.

"We're urgently discussing the issue with our security business partner so passengers receive the service levels they rightly expect.

"The queues at security returned to normal by 08.00h today. Our advice for passengers flying later today is unchanged - we recommend you arrive at least two hours ahead of your scheduled time of departure."
