William and Kate make royal fan 'cry tears of happiness' as they pose for selfies

Prince William and Kate made a royal fan cry tears of happiness as they posed with him for a selfie.

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the seaside town of Scarborough yesterday and greeted well-wishers during a walkabout.

The couple were welcomed by a cheering crowd as they started their day at The Street – a community hub that supports local organisations to grow and develop their services.

During the day, they took selfies with fans who then posted some images on social media.

Royal fan Jamie Winspear posted photos with Kate and William on Instagram, saying he was "excited" to meet them and that he was "crying happiness".

Another royal fan, Stephanie Garnett, posted a selfie with Prince William and wrote "Omg" followed by a shocked face emoji.

One more, Beatrice Baldwin, published photos with the Prince and Princess of Wales as they smiled to the camera.

Both royals also wore poppies pinned to their jackets as the annual Remembrance commemorations are approaching.

The visit came as the Prince and Princess launched new charity collaborations across the country this week to help local groups work with their Royal Foundation.

William and Kate travelled to North Yorkshire on Thursday to launch their first 'Community Impact Day' to create "lasting legacy and impact" from every engagement.

The couple met young people to launch their pilot scheme which has seen £350,000 raised for good causes.

William told charities, children and donors: "We heard a lot about mental health priorities and some safe spaces and food are key issues resonating today.

"Particularly on mental health side of things, tackling that stigma and talking about mental health and providing services to the community crucial to how we go forward and mental health issues many many people face.

"For Catherine and I, the legacy of today is bringing together and collaborating and shown what can be done when a community comes together is something we'd like to follow on and I hope can be represented more widely across the country. You are leading where others follow."
