A shopper won over £300 for West Lothian Foodbank in a supermarket sweep.
Matthew Prince took part in the five-minute trolley dash for charity at Bathgate’s Aldi store.
He squeezed £317.99 worth of goods into his trolley to be donated to the foodbank while picking up the same value for himself.
Matthew said: “I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Aldi’s supermarket sweep at the Bathgate store.
“The staff were fantastic at pointing out which products to fill my trolley with, while my wife Kirsty helped me race around the store.
“We’re both incredibly proud to have raised over £300 for our local foodbank and I would like to extend my thanks to Aldi for this brilliant opportunity.”
Richard Holloway from Aldi said: “The supermarket sweep is now a firm
favourite across the country and this time it was the turn of Matthew from Bathgate to take part.
“During the five-minute sweep at our Gardner’s Lane store Matthew managed to snap up a whole load of treats for himself and raise an incredible amount for West Lothian Foodbank.”
Kathleen Neilly, general manager at the foodbank, said: “It was great to attend Aldi’s supermarket sweep.
“Matthew managed to raise an incredible amount of money, which will provide much needed help towards our running costs over the winter months.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to both Aldi and Matthew making this donation possible.”
The Courier recently reported about the foodbank’s new distribution point in West Calder and launch of an advent calendar challenge to create festive hampers.
