West Belfast break-in being investigated after gang enter house and search it

Police are searching for a gang that got into a house and assaulted the occupant before searching the place.

The PSNI have not released many details, but say the incident happened in the Clonard area of West Belfast on Saturday.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the January 22 burglary.

Detective Inspector Corrigan said: “Between 6.45pm and 7.05pm four males entered a house in the Oranmore Street area and pushed the occupant onto the sofa.

“We believe they were wearing gloves and one of the men was masked. They then made off on foot after searching the address.

“Thankfully the victim was not injured during this terrifying ordeal but has understandably been left very shaken up.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would ask anyone with any information to contact on 101 quoting reference number 1484 22/01/22.”

Police declined to say if the occupant of the house was male or female.

They added that a report can also be submitted online using their non-emergency reporting form at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or anonymously via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.
