A couple in Kansas stole a Patrick Mahomes cardboard cutout from a McDonalds but spoiled their own perfect crime when they got into a car accident on the Golden Arches getaway.
Don’t worry — no one was seriously injured.
But in a case of police officers putting two and two together (or, two and one cardboard cutout), a man and woman in Lawrence, Kansas were issued notices to appear in court (according to the Lawrence Journal-World) following an unusual grab-and-go at the fast-food spot. One person was treated for minor injuries, per The Associated Press.
A spokesperson for the Lawrence Police Department told the AP that a man and woman grabbed the cutout from the restaurant, then ran out the door and sped off. Shortly afterward, officers investigating a two-car accident nearby noticed the cardboard cutout in the backseat and realized that the vehicle matched the description of the car that left the McDonalds.
