Regarding headlines, most of the talk surrounding Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) -) in the past year has involved a show being axed. When Warner Bros. merged with Discovery, the company’s CEO David Zaslav was not shy about his goal to trim a neat 3.5 billion from its budget.
It’s been difficult to say what the future of Warner Bros. Discovery and its subsidiaries will look like. But the merger last spring came in the wake of an overcrowded streaming market that grew during covid-19 lockdowns -- charging extra for service add-ons wouldn’t go over well with users.

In late May, the company’s streaming service HBO Max rolled out a rebranding. The newly-dubbed “max” hosts content from all of its properties, including HBO, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network, and news network CNN.

Now Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that Max will also host a 24/7 news streaming service with the launch of CNN Max.
“CNN Max will be[…] part of an open beta for news,” the company wrote in a press release. “[It] will enable experimentation with product features, content offerings, and original storytelling [--] all with the input and feedback from the Max community.”
“The new service will include new programming built specifically for the Max streaming audience,” reads the release, citing examples like “’CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta, Rahel Solomon, Amara Walker, and Fredricka Whitfield,’ and ‘CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto.’”
Sciutto will additionally lead breaking news in the afternoons.
CNN Max will also host the network’s regulars, like Christiane Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, and more -- all day and all night starting on September 27.
