Popular transgender actress Hunter Schafer received an outpouring of support on social media after she revealed her passport gender was changed to male to adhere to President Donald Trump's executive order requiring Americans to use the gender assigned at birth on official documents.
The "Euphoria" star shared a nearly 9-minute TikTok video explaining that she did not believe the Trump administration, which is "a lot of talk," would follow through on forcing American citizens to identify as the gender they were assigned at birth until it happened to her.
"I'm not making this post to fearmonger or to create drama or receive consolation, I don't need it. But I do think it's worth posting to sort of note the reality of the situation and that it is actually happening, and I was shocked," Schafer disclosed.
The 26-year-old actress reiterated that she found it important to share her experience because it doesn't matter how "wealthy or white or pretty or whatever," no one is excluded from the circumstances Americans are currently facing.

Schafer was met with an outpouring of support from fans and the trans community on social media.
TikTok creator @reel.takes said in a video that anyone who cares about other people should care about this.
"People should be vocally supporting Hunter Schafer. No human being deserves to look at their license or passport or anything and see an identity that is not who they actually are," he stated. "No more burying our heads in the sand."

TikTok creator @maraangeliz shared her frustration with Schafer's experience, adding that she couldn't believe the president is focusing on trans people when there are so many major issues to address.
"I can only imagine how hard and uncomfortable it's going to be for trans people to travel now, and let me remind you that trans people deserve respect and they deserve to feel safe just like the rest of us," she remarked.
Users also commented to support Schafer in her video's comments.
"We will fight for queer family. You are not alone," one supporter proclaimed.
"It has always boiled down to hatred," another remarked.
Other supporters reiterated Schafer's views of fascism slowly being normalized.
"It's insane that anyone can view this as anything other than the persecution of an oppressed group of people. This is fascism to its core, but too many people have succumbed to the moral panic of transphobia to realize that they're supporting it," X user esjesjesj wrote.

Schafer added she will have to out herself more often than she would like or is necessary while traveling, but the update doesn't change anything about her or her transness.
"I'm never going to stop being trans and a letter and a passport can't change that, and f--k this administration," she added.
