Two walkers who became disoriented in the mist on a Wicklow mountain were rescued by emergency services.
The mountain rescue team were alerted to two people lost on Lugnaquilla at 4:41pm on Saturday.
The hikers went off track in the mist during the descent and found themselves in the approaching darkness.
The Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue located the duo despite "difficult communications" with the lost party using SARLOC technology.
The pair were taken back to safety in a Mountain Rescue Response vehicle.
A spokesperson for the emergency service said: "At 4:41, Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Síochána to a report of two persons who had climbed Lugnaquilla earlier in the day.
"On their descent, the two walkers became disoriented in the mist and subsequently found themselves now in the approaching darkness and lost.
"Although communications with the lost party were difficult the team were able to locate their position using SARLOC technology. With their location positioning them close to a track, a Mountain Rescue Response vehicle made its way to the walkers and then returned them back to their cars.
"Team was stood down at 17:53hrs."
