Waitrose and Marks and Spencer have joined a recall of chicken products following a similar move this week by Aldi, Sainsbury's and Pret A Manger. Waitrose is recalling some of its sandwich range amid a fear there could be a salmonella contamination.
Waitrose said it has taken the decision as a 'precautionary measure' and has urged customers not to eat the sandwiches and wraps, reports The Mail. A spokesman said: "We're recalling 10 of our Waitrose chicken sandwich and wrap lines — with Use By dates up to and including May 14 — due to a potential Salmonella risk.
"Customers should not consume these items and should return them to us for a full refund. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.'
Items being recalled are:
- Waitrose Roast Chicken Salad with Salad Cream Sandwich
- Waitrose Roast Chicken & Stuffing Sandwich
- Waitrose Roast Chicken & Sweetcorn Sandwich
- Waitrose Essential Chicken Mayo Sandwich
- Waitrose Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap
- Waitrose Sweet Chilli Chicken with Coconut & Coriander Pickle Wrap
- Waitrose Deep Filled Roast Chicken & Stuffing Sandwich
- Waitrose Roast Chicken & Bacon Sandwich
- Waitrose Deep Filled Roast Chicken & Bacon Sandwich
- Waitrose Entertaining Meat Roulade Wrap Selection
Marks & Spencer has also issued a 'precautionary recall' of 12 food products amid the fear of salmonella. They are:

- Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap
- Made Without Wheat Gluten Free Chicken & Bacon Sandwich

- Chicken Honey Mustard Pasta Salad
- Café Gluten Free Chicken Salad Sandwich
- Café Classic Sandwich Selection
Sainsbury's tweeted: "We are recalling the majority of Sainsbury's and Taste the Difference chicken sandwiches, chicken wraps, chicken sandwich platters and some of our cooked chicken.Our supplier has alerted us that salmonella has been detected in some batches of cooked chicken."
A Pret A Manger spokesperson told MailOnline: "As a precautionary measure, we've temporarily removed the majority of chicken items on our menu due to a potential food safety risk at one of our suppliers. We hope to have these products back in shops soon. We apologise for any inconvenience."
Aldi has recalled its chicken and bacon Caesar wraps with use by dates of May 11 and May 12.
