Wacoal backs Thai runners at Kyoto Marathon

Kyoto Marathon 2023 Worakit

Wacoal Thailand underlines its commitment to sustainability by supporting Thai runners in the world-class Kyoto Marathon 2023. With a 42.19km course, it serves as the model for a marathon for a sustainable environment. The proceeds from the event will be used to restore buildings and public utilities in other cities that were impacted by the 2011 earthquake in Japan.

Kyoto has earned the reputation of being a green city and the origin of the Wacoal and CW-X sportswear brands. A group of Thai runners, Somchai Kemglad, Anoma Cook, Lily McGrath, Tor Yot Chongjam and Prat Pongchai, had the opportunity to explore the Wacoal Company headquarters and the Museum of Beauty to learn about the development of Japanese undergarments from Wacoal's earliest to most recent collections.

Wacoal Japan has been manufacturing support pants or compression trousers since 1965, the first year Japan was able to develop innovative flexible fabric. The firm used this fabric to create the Girdle pant, for which it was granted an international patent in 13 different countries.

Since then, Wacoal has consistently improved the production process, materials, designs and patterns to utilise in its lingerie and innerwear. In addition to lingerie and innerwear for women, there is men's underwear, sports and exercise underwear, and specialised underwear for athletes.
