Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson's beef sparked by 'candy-a**' Fast & Furious rant

Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel turns 55 today. It's hard to believe the man pulling off the most iconic car stunts over the last decade is now five years away from 60.

The franchise has a total of 12 films currently released, with another due to come out in 2023.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has played a role in five of the movies, starring alongside Vin Diesel himself. But the two on-screen giants don't seem to have the best off-screen relationship.

So what is the beef between the beefcakes? How did it start and will they work together again?

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel's bust-up

It seems Vin Diesel did something to put his relationship with his co-star between a Rock and a hard place.

Taking to Instagram in August 2016, Dwayne posted about unnamed male co-stars on the set of Fast 8, branding them unprofessional.

“There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one," he wrote on Insta.

"My female costars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male costars, however, are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”

While Dwayne didn't name Vin directly, he went on: "When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right."

The WWE star later confirmed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he regretted the outburst on social media.

He said: "Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA. I don't share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bulls**t away from the public."

What has Vin Diesel done to annoy Dwayne Johnson?

In the same interview with Vanity Fair, Johnson revealed that he had exposed Vin Diesel's on-set behaviour towards the hard-working crew.

The actor also claimed that he had received many thanks and notes by crew members after speaking out about Vin's antics.

What has Vin Diesel said?

In response to Johnson's comments, Vin Diesel told Men's Health that he gave "a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be".

Michelle Rodriguez, another co-star of the Fast & Furious Franchise, played down the spat between the two action heroes and insisted that they were "bros" and that they just needed time to figure it out.

Despite their public feud, the birthday boy took to social media himself in December 2021 to try and publicly entice his co-star into making a return to Fast and Furious.

In the Instagram post Vin Diesel called Johnson "my little brother Dwayne" and said that his sons call The Rock their uncle.

But Johnson responded by calling out Vin Diesel as manipulative.

Will they ever work together again?

Fast & Furious 10 is set to come out in May 2023. However, there is no indication that Dwayne Johnson has decided to return to the original Fast & Furious timeline.

If they ever decide to reunite in the future, we'll have to wait and see.
