Valleys security fencing start-up firm smashes job creation and revenue targets

A Valleys start-up security fencing company has created 41 jobs and exceeded its revenue target by £2m.

Abercynon-based Integrated Fencing, which also has a base in Brentwood, Essex, services clients around the UK in the private, corporate and public sectors including Morgan Sindall, Bouygues, Readie Construction, the NHS and Tesco.

Directors Hywel Davies, Scott Thomas and Richard Salmon all have extensive experience in the sector. After launching the firm in 2020 - with backing from Tata Steel subsidiary UKSE - it was rebranded last year. Latest figures show a turnover of £6m, beating the business plan’s target of £4m. The revised plan is to hit revenues of £8m in three years time with a further 10 jobs being created.

Mr Davies said:” It has been an amazing start, and we have had to revise our forecasts upwards. The fact that, as a relative newcomer to the industry we have picked up four major awards in a short time, speaks for itself.”

Integrated Fencing provides a wide range of security-rated products including security fencing, automated swing and sliding gates, acoustic fencing and street furniture such as cycle shelters and structures for refuse storage.

At launch it rasied £200,000, cornerstoned with a loan from UKSE and supported by Development Bank of Wales, the Start-Up Loans Company and investments from the management team.

Howard Thompson, UKSE regional executive, said: “We were very impressed with the business plan the firm put forward and pleased to give our support, along with the other investors.

“The directors have over 50 years’ experience of the industry behind them and this, combined with their obvious commitment, knowledge and contacts has enabled them to develop a successful business in a competitive sector in a short period of time, creating jobs and prosperity. We will keep in close contact with them and hope to be able to offer timely support when they require further investment.”
